A Short Biography of Dn Skip Sopscak

Deacon Skip Sopscak grew up in Northern Michigan and attended Michigan State University where he earned a B. S. in International Studies in 1985. He was commissioned in the U. S. Air Force in 1986 through Officer’s Training School and served as a Missile Combat Crew member at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota and in various staff positions at Offut AFB, Nebraska.
Skip and his wife Julie were married at Higgins Lake, Michigan in 1987.
Honorably discharged in 1995 in Omaha, Nebraska, he began a private sector career as a Computer Programmer. Since 2011 Skip has been working as a Lead Software Engineer for CSG International, a software devolvement firm primarily supporting the telecommunications industry.
Skip and Julie joined St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Omaha, affiliated with the Anglican Province of Christ the King and were confirmed in 2022. Julie was active in the small but mighty choir there and Skip served as a lay reader.
In 2024 the couple moved to Roscommon, Michigan to be nearer family and joined All Saints Anglican Church in Traverse City. Skip was ordained to the diaconate by the Rt. Rev. David Hustwick, Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Great Lakes in June 2026 and has served under the direction of the Rector at All Saints, Fr. Kurt Henle, since then.
